And they'll never play "Royals," royals. Or at least they won't till the World Series is over.

Two San Francisco radio stations have benched Lorde's chart-topping single from their airwaves until either the Giants or the Kansas City Royals win the World Series, per KMBC.com. The two teams will play Game 1 of the Series on Oct. 21.

In response to the ban, Kansas City radio station 99.7 The Point plans to play "Royals" once every hour from 7. a.m. to 7. p.m. the day of the opener.

"You might try to stop the #Royals on your airwaves... but we'll just pump 'em up!" the station wrote on their Facebook page.

Lorde was inspired to pen her song's unforgettable refrain after seeing a 1976 photo of then-Kansas City third baseman George Brett in an old National Geographic magazine, "Royals" emblazoned in blue across his chest.

Earlier this year, to commemorate the teenage singer-songwriter's success, Brett sent her a special Royals jersey. He signed it with the note, "You are Royal to me."
